Tianjin Ostberg has been focusing on the research and development of core components such as VVT timing gears, OCV oil control valves, and VCP timing camshafts for automobile engines since 2009. After more than a decade of technological accumulation and market expansion, the company has formed a rich product matrix — currently, there are over 1,700 types of products, among which VVT timing gears reach more than 800 models and OCV oil control valves amount to over 980 models.
To accurately meet the diverse needs of different customers, the company has continuously expanded its product line, with remarkable performance especially in the field of engine timing gears. It has developed segmented product categories covering various vehicle systems, including German, Korean, Japanese, American, domestic, French, Italian and European series timing gears.

The timing gear is a key gear in mechanical devices that achieves precise positioning on the time scale. Its core function is to connect the crankshaft and the camshaft, and use the gear meshing mechanism to ensure that the piston controls the opening and closing of the valves at precise moments, thereby ensuring the orderly and coordinated operation of mechanical components. In the intake and exhaust system of internal combustion engines, it regulates the coordination rhythm between the valves and the piston and is a core control component for the normal operation of the engine. In precision machinery such as clocks and watches, it can maintain the timing accuracy of mechanical actions in local systems with functional sequence relationships. It mainly realizes power transmission and timing control through three methods: chain drive, which has strong reliability and is suitable for high-load scenarios; toothed belt drive, which operates stably with low noise and is commonly used in small and medium-displacement engines; and gear drive, which has high transmission accuracy and is mostly used in mechanical structures with strict timing requirements.
The core role of the timing gear is reflected in four aspects: first, it provides a precise time scale benchmark for mechanical control functions, serving as a "time scale" for orderly operation; second, it ensures the perfect synchronization between the crankshaft and the camshaft, making the opening and closing of the valves strictly match the movement of the piston to avoid component interference; third, it transmits the power from the crankshaft to the camshaft, driving the cam to control the valves according to a preset rhythm, realizing precise fuel injection and efficient exhaust emission, which directly affects the combustion efficiency and power output of the engine; fourth, in the engine, it assumes the responsibility of controlling the coordinated movement of the valves and the cylinder piston, is a core component for realizing timing control, and plays a decisive role in engine performance.
As a key core component of the engine, the timing gear needs regular maintenance to ensure stable operation. It should be replaced in a timely manner according to the service cycle to avoid timing deviation caused by wear or aging. Moreover, when replacing, the status of the crankshaft and camshaft should be checked simultaneously, and repaired if necessary, to ensure the high precision of the engine's timing control and prevent mechanical failures caused by matching errors.
